Vidovdan Play 2005 Vidovdan Play 2005 was a very big success that got announced in Serbian communities around Australia. Besides the very talented cast (including Boro Kandic and Bojana Novakovic), but also a very hard working and dedicated staff with Milisav Mike Makuljevic at the head of it made this play the success that it was. Guests started arriving half an hour earlier and they had badges with name tags waiting for them. Name tags would come in handy after the play during the cocktail party where guests had chance to meet each other. Play started with dramatic opening where Boro Kandic introduced the guests to the story. The play was done as a series of acts depicting some of the known events that happened before, during and after the Kosovo Battle. Here you can read the background information about the Vidovdan Play 2005 that was given to all the guests as pamphlet handout. Vidovdan Play touched on the significant historical parts as Prince Lazar's supper before the battle, betrayal by Vuk Brankovic, death of the Jugovici and other important events that happened at the time of the battle. After the play guests were invited to cocktail party where they got to discuss the evening's events with members of local communities including members of the council and mayor. It was interesting speaking with the members of the council who were at the meeting when the plans for the centre were put forward and to find their reactions after so many years. The play was a very significant event as it strengthened relationship between the Serbian community and the local communities and government. Rich in culture and passion the play showed some of the most important historical events and legends of the Serbian people.
